Gunold SOLVY® - The Original Water-Soluble Embroidery Stabilizer

Stitch-by-Stitch Brilliance Even on High-Pile Fabrics!

The softer and bulkier the fabric, the easier stitches disappear into the material resulting in unsightly embroideries. Gunold's water solubles stabilizer film is your answer. Gunold Solvy is trademarked because we found manufacturing processes that ensure consistent water soluble film that is perfect from batch to batch. Many unique and desirable traits of Gunold's Solvy led Gunold to obtain the trademark on both Solvy and Gunold Solvy.

Gunold Solvy stabilizer, the best Solvy (and only real Solvy) can be used on either the top or bottom of your embroidery garment or embroidery blank!

The most popular way to use Gunold Solvy is as a water soluble topping, placed or hooped on the top of the garment. Commercial embroidery operators love the ease of working with Solvy topping on high speed embroidery machines. Gunold's original SOLVY ensures that every single stitch turns out brilliantly - even on intricate embroidery designs or on any deep pile fabric - the result is a detailed, needle sharp look. Just place this best in class water soluble film on top of the embroidery fabric, or embroidery blank, prior to embroidering. Hoop Solvy it if you wish, but even that is optional. Solvy works by holding the stitches above the fabric during the embroidery sewout process. Once you are done with the embroidery process, simply remove the remaining larger pieces of Solvy by tearing, and smaller pieces can be easily removed by a spritz of water from a spray bottle.

Gunold's original SOLVY can also be used as fabric backing when both sides of the embroidered product will be visible to the user, and the Solvy backing is then hidden forever, for great results especially on scarves and towels.

Main Embroidery Applications for Gunold Solvy Water Soluble Stabilizer

Solvy topping is used for soft pile fabrics, knitwear, terry cloth, or whenever highly-detailed embroideries would disappear in the material. Solvy residual simply tears away, and any remainder is removed by a spritz from a water bottle!

Solvy backing is used for embroidery blanks where both fabric sides are visible to the end user, and residual visual backing is undesirable. Solvy residual simply tears away, and any remainder is removed by a spritz from a water bottle!

Learn & Touch Embroidery Hints and Tips using Gunold Solvy Water Soluble Backing

Place SOLVY on the fabric to be embroidered. We recommend you hoop it together with the material!

After completing the embroidery, tear away SOLVY along the edges of the design

Dissolve the foil residues in water.

When working with terry cloth, use SOLVY on both fabric sides, if needed, i.e. as topping and backing. By using Solvy as a backing, no unsightly residual backing remains because Gunold Solvy washes away with a fine water mist!

If you don't want to wash the embroidery to remove residual Solvy – wet a remnant piece of nonwoven backing and place it on the embroidery – then iron until completely dry. When you tear away the nonwoven, SOLVY will be removed without leaving any Solvy traces!
